PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy
facial rejuvenation treatment

aka plasma facial /
plasma needling /
collagen induction therapy

This treatment focuses on promoting and increasing collagen and elastin which helps to tighten and smooth your skin. It utilises your own blood (containing stem cells and growth factors) which is then injected into targeted areas to accelerate epidermal tissue replacement. It is a safe natural treatment using your own stem cells to produce better quality skin – it’s a really good treatment for tear throughs and under eye dark circles.

How is the treatment performed?

  • Firstly, your blood is drawn in a sterile tube

  • The tube is then spun down in a device called a centrifuge which separates the red cells from the platelet rich plasma

  • This plasma is drawn off and then injected into the targeted areas

How long does the treatment take?

  • Usually around 45-60 mins

  • This includes an application of numbing cream at the commencement and a cooling peptide-rich mask at the completion of the treatment

Does PRP hurt?

  • There is a mild discomfort, so we apply numbing cream 20 min before the treatment, while your blood is spinning in the centrifuge

  • The plasma is injected using very fine needles or via a micro-needling device technique

Potential side effects of PRP

  • PRP is safe with a relatively low complication rate as it utilises your own blood.

  • Some patients may experience – bruising, puffiness, redness, dryness, and itching

Recovery & Post care

  • Sometime redness & bruising can occur

  • Normally you can go straight back to work

  • Avoid products that contain alcohol, exfoliants and retinol

  • Avoid direct sunlight and heat for at least 72 hours

  • Avoid exercising for at least 24 hours

  • Avoid applying ice to the area as the inflammatory effect is an important part of the PRP process

  • Cleanse your face with a simple cleanser, moisturise and always apply 30+ sunscreen

  • Avoid putting too many products on your skin for 72 hours

How many treatments of PRP do I need?

  • The results are gradual becoming more visible after 4 weeks

  • It is recommended to have a minimum of 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

  • Then a yearly application is recommended to maintain your results

  • This treatment can be integrated with PDO Threads for an exceptional outcome

What do I need to do to prepare for PRP treatments?

  • A through consultation is conducted prior to treatment

  • Eat wholesome nutritious food – what goes in... must come out… in your blood

  • Don’t smoke or drink alcohol for 7 days prior

  • No anti-inflammatories – only Panadol if required

  • Drink loads of water on the day of the treatment – the more hydrated you are, the better the plasma
