This treatment utilises a very fine special medical grade dissolving sutures to trigger fibroblasts to increase collagen. The main cause of ageing is collagen loss. Collagen is a protein that gives your skin its structure and elasticity.

PDO smooth threads help regenerate the skin without barbs or cogs. Smooth threads do not lift the skin. They purely help revitalise the skin and are great for areas that have fine lines and wrinkles. Smooth threads can help tighten and restore volume to give you firmer younger looking skin.

How is the treatment performed?
-
Firstly, your skin is cleansed and numbing cream or local anaesthetic is applied
-
The area to be treated is marked
-
PDO threads are inserted using very fine needles. These needles are removed leaving behind the threads under the skin
-
Normally the threads are laid in a mesh-like pattern to firm and revitalise the skin
How long does the treatment take?
-
Usually around 45-60 mins
Does it hurt?
-
There is a mild discomfort, so we apply numbing cream 20 min before the treatment.
-
We can also administer some local anaesthetic
Potential side effects
-
PDO threads are safe with a relatively low complication rate.
-
Some patients may experience bruising, puffiness, and redness
-
Sometimes, there is a tingling sensation after the threads have been inserted but this resolves quickly
-
Sometimes, a thread will poke out from under the skin. This can just be removed using tweezers. This can occur in highly mobile areas of the face such as around the mouth
-
Small little red dots will occur at the needle insertion site. These will generally disappear after 48 hours
Recovery & Post care
-
Bruising is common and almost likely to occur so don’t plan your thread treatment close to any events
-
Be gentle on the treated areas
-
Avoid products that contain alcohol, exfoliants and retinol
-
Avoid direct sunlight and heat for at least 2 weeks
-
Avoid exercising for at least 2 weeks
-
Avoid excessive movements such as stretching, rubbing or manipulating the skin for about 2 weeks
-
Apply ice to the area if necessary
-
Cleanse your face with a simple cleanser, moisturise and always apply 30+ sunscreen
-
Avoid putting too many products on your skin for 2 weeks
How many treatments do I need?
-
The results are gradual becoming more visible after 4 weeks
-
This treatment is customised to you. The number of treatments depends on the severity of the target area
-
However, the more threads that are inserted, the better the outcome of the treatment
-
This treatment can be integrated with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) for an exceptional outcome
